Children and Accompanying persons
Due to pharma code regulations, children and accompanying persons are not permitted in the exhibition area or the session rooms at any time. Due to these regulations, children and accompanying persons will not be permitted beyond the registration area. There is no social programme for accompanying persons and the Networking reception is for registered delegates only.
Climate and Dress
The climate in Vienna is temperate and in June it is usually mild and sunny but be prepared for rain and chilly evenings. From June to July the daytime temperature ranges from 14º C to 24º C
The ‘European Society of Ophthalmology’ (or) ‘European Society of Ophthalmology Congress 2015’ is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net.
The ‘European Society of Ophthalmology Congress 2015’ is designated for a maximum of (or ‘for up to’) 20 hours of European external CME credits. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
Through an agreement between the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Information on the process to convert EACCME credit to AMA credit can be found at www.ama-assn.org/go/internationalcme.
Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognized by the UEMS-EACCME for ECMEC credits are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity. The EACCME credit system is based on 1 ECMEC per hour with a maximum of 3 ECMECs for half a day and 6 ECMECs for a full-day event.
Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance including CME Credits from the registration area, upon completion of the Congress Survey. As of Monday, 8 June a number of desks will be available in the registration area for completion of the Congress Survey and obtaining the Certificate.
Currency and Credit Card
The currency in Austria is the Euro. Please visit www.oanda.com/currency/converter for the latest currency rate. ATMs/cash machines are available throughout Vienna. All major credit cards are accepted at hotels, stores, cafes and restaurants with pin codes. Some places may charge a fee when accepting foreign credit cards as payment.

The official language of the Congress is English. No simultaneous translation will be provided.
Local time in Austria during the Congress is Central European Time, which is on hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and six hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time (EST).
Lunch and Refreshments
No official meals will be provided during SOE 2015. A number of coffee/snack points will sell sandwiches and snacks.
Tea and coffee are provided twice a day on Saturday to Monday and once on Tuesday.

The Opening ceremony will be held at the ACV. It is open to all registered participants.
During the Opening ceremony the Helmholtz Medal will be awarded.

SOE 2015 will not organise shuttles buses from the hotels to the congress venue. We recommend all delegates use the Vienna Public Transport System which is a very effective and an inexpensive public transportation system.
Tickets can be bought online before the Congress. For more information see “Travel Cards” below.
Vienna has an excellent Public Transport System which is very effective and inexpensive, operated by “Wiener Linien”. The transportation system covers 937 km. The five subway lines (U-Bahn), 29 tram lines and 145 buses lines will take the SOE Participants from hotels to the Congress venue as well around the city quickly and reliably.
Tickets are available from machines at subway stations (major debit cards accepted), at news agent’s, and at Vienna Transport Authority’s ticket offices.
The public transportation tickets bought in advance are cheaper and the Vienna transport authority offers the SOE participants the possibility to purchase this discounted transportation ticket in advance.
The public transport ticket for SOE 2015 will be available for online purchase from March 10, 2015 onwards.

Some countries need a visa to enter Austria. Participates are encouraged to contact their local Austrian embassy or consulate to enquire if they require a visa. It is important to start the process at least 3 months prior to the SOE 2015 Congress.

CANCELLATION OR MODIFICATION OF THE MEETING DUE TO FORCE MAJEUR
In case of force majeure, SOE2015, has the right to alter or cancel the Meeting without prior notice, however a notice of the occurrence shall be given by SOE2015 as soon as reasonably possible. Force majeure shall mean any circumstance beyond the reasonable control of SOE2015 which prevents or impedes the holding of the Congress, including, but not limited to, government action, war or hostilities, riot or civil commotion, plague or other epidemic such as SARS, bird flu, earthquake, flood, hurricane, cyclone, fire or other natural physical disaster, explosion, accident or breakdown, strike, lack of the usual means of transportation or terrorism. SOE2015 shall not be liable for any direct or indirect, incidental or consequential damages, losses, expenditures or any other inconveniences or costs caused by such modification or cancellation of the Congress. Furthermore, registration fees will not be reimbursed by SOE2015.
SOE2015 and Simply Events (UK) Ltd cannot accept liability for injuries or losses of whatever nature incurred by participants nor for loss of or damage to their luggage and/or personal belongings. Please check the validity of your own travel insurance. All reasonable endeavours will be made to hold SOE2015 and to present its program as scheduled under circumstances which assure the comfort and safety of all participants. However, neither SOE2015 nor its committees, representatives or agents, shall be held liable by any person as a result of the cancellation of the Congress or of any of the arrangements, programs or plans connected therewith, or for any injury, damage or inconvenience which may be suffered by any person while travelling to or from, or during such person’s presence in Austria in connection with this SOE2015.
